The basics

What is Qira?

Qira is a 60-second daily wellness check. You take a photo of your tongue, do a short camera heart scan and answer a few questions. Qira gives you a Qi Score from 0 to 100, explains it with Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern science, and suggests one food, one pressure point and one breathing tip for the day.

Is Qira a medical device?

No. Qira is a wellness app for self-reflection. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition and does not replace a health professional. If something worries you, please see a doctor.

Do I need to know anything about Chinese medicine?

No. Every reading is written in plain words, and you can tap the little "?" next to a term to learn what it means. Many people use Qira simply as a calm morning routine.

Who is Pip?

Pip is Qira's coach: your health buddy, a small jade-green friend with a sprout on his head. He explains your reading, reacts to your meals and streak, answers your questions by voice or text and guides breathing sessions out loud.

When is the best time to scan?

In the morning, before you eat, drink coffee or brush your tongue. Scanning at about the same time each day makes your trends more meaningful.

Readings and accuracy

How does the camera read my heart?

Each heartbeat changes your skin color very slightly. The camera picks up these changes (a method called rPPG) and Qira turns them into heart rate, HRV, breathing rate and a stress estimate. More on how it works.

How accurate is the heart scan?

Camera heart readings are estimates. Light, movement and makeup can affect them. Qira shows a signal-quality label with each scan. We are testing the scan against reference devices. The fingertip mode usually gives the strongest signal.

Does Qira measure blood pressure or oxygen?

No. Qira does not measure blood pressure, blood oxygen or temperature.

Why did my Qi Score change so much?

Sleep, food, stress, a cold room or a late coffee can all shift your tongue and pulse from one day to the next. Look at your trend over a week rather than a single day.

Can Qira tell me if I'm sick?

No. Qira describes patterns from Chinese medicine, like "running warm" or "a little heavy", to help you reflect on your day. It cannot detect or rule out any illness.

Privacy

What happens to my photos and video?

The heart scan video is processed on your phone and never uploaded. Tongue and meal photos are sent securely to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to be read and are not stored on Qira's servers. Your history is saved on your device.

Do you sell my data or use it for ads?

No. Your health information is never sold and never used for advertising. See the privacy policy.
